omkring det med vand - en kats naturlige byttedyr indeholder 70-75% vand. tørfoder indeholder 7-10% vand. dåsemad er omkring 78%
Ifølge dr. Pierson:
I hear the reader saying “…but my cat drinks a lot of water so he must be getting enough!”
A cat consuming a predominantly dry-food diet does drink more water than a cat consuming a canned food diet, but in the end, when water from all sources is added together (what’s in their diet plus what they drink), the cat on dry food consumes approximately half the amount of water compared with a cat eating canned food. This is a crucial point when one considers how common kidney and bladder problems are in the cat.

One of the cat owners posting said she really thinks wet food is what is best for our cats but she would like to read more about the studies that support your opinions, the lack of references makes her critical to the reliability of the articles. She would also like information about your education.
Best wishes, Viktoria
Piersons svar:
Hi Viktoria,
I have to laugh…and get frustrated… when someone asks for references to prove that we need to feed cats like cats…and NOT cows…when, in fact, it is up to them to prove to me that they can stray so far from how a cat is designed to eat and have them thrive.
Please refer this person to Dr. Zoran’s article linked at the top of the sidebar at catinfo.org. If the person cannot read English…I am not sure what else I can do.
I graduated from University of California at Davis in 1984. I became extremely interested in feline nutrition and medicine in 2002 when my own cat became ill with intestinal problems. I began doing a great deal of research in this area along with engaging my common sense. The issue of common sense is an important one and is something that so many people lack when considering what to feed to a cat.
Once I got my cat on a more species-appropriate diet, he intestinal problems improved immediately and I have seen this happen time and time again with many other cats.
I have spent the past 8 years focusing on feline medicine and nutrition. I consult with people from all over the world and have seen, first hand, many, many cats become well again once they were fed a species-appropriate diet.
It is simply illogical to feed dry food to any cat. In fact, I like to turn the question around and ask people to prove to me that cats can thrive on grains. The ball is in their court…not mine. They are the ones who insist on straying so far from nature. It is not up to me to prove my position. It is up to them to prove theirs.
Feel free to post/print any of the above anywhere.
